'An ounce of patience is worth more than a tonne of preaching'.
- Mahatma Gandhi
Ah, so says a very wise One! Ones have a very clear sense of right and wrong which gives them their integrity and makes them the ethical people that they are. Along with this, however, can come a tendency to preach to others about how they feel things should be. Whilst often what the One is saying is good and very wise counsel, they can alienate the very people they are trying to help when it tips over into being preachy. It can be a classic case of 'not so much what is said but the way in which it is said' that rubs other people up the wrong way and makes them inclined to ignore it. Ones can struggle with this as they see very clearly how things could be improved, they want to make a difference and they know their motivation is good. All of this gives them a drive and an impatience which can sometimes manifest as self-righteousness (and they may be aware of it) - especially when they are on their pet subject.
So the above words from Mahatma Gandhi speak to the dilemma of the One and appear to have been a lesson well learnt by him on his journey through life. As they say, the best teachers are those that have already walked the road. What makes them great teachers is that they not only learn from their experiences but are able to articulate that learning to others.
