Another way of looking at personality Types is of looking at them as different animals which each have their own specific qualities and behaviours and purpose in the big universal scheme of things. If we are an elephant we will never be a giraffe and a giraffe will never be a rhinoceros and a rhinoceros will never be a lion but each has their own important role to play in the world with particular qualities and gifts they bring to it. No animal is better than another animal but what a waste of a life to be a zebra wishing it were a tiger. Or a horse wishing it were a monkey. Wouldn't it be a life better lived understanding what animal we are and working at bringing all the unique and amazing qualities of it to bear on the world more fully? It can take time to find our Enneagram Type but once we have done so it opens us up to where our gifts lie. Of course, the Enneagram cannot tell us if we could be a brilliant tennis player or a genius at maths but what it does do is reveal a certain energy, a certain quality of spirit that we bring to this world. Understanding it's particular flavour can be very useful in helping us know how to get out there and really use ourselves for the benefit of others. Isn't that the greatest fulfilment of a lifetime?
