When the Three moves to Six

The Direction of Integration for the Three is to Six. This means that when the Three is feeling secure and relaxed they exhibit some behaviours of the healthy Six. So how does this manifest? Threes, like the Twos, reject their authentic self in favour of a persona that they feel will be more acceptable. In the case of the Three their persona is that of an outstanding, successful person. Because of this, intimacy can be difficult for Threes because it means revealing their vulnerability and this goes against the well-packaged image of themselves that they work so hard to create. Threes believe they are loved for their accomplishments alone because only their accomplishments are valuable. As a result, in order to accomplish, Threes operate out of self-interest but the move to Six sees them becoming involved and committed to others and to activities or goals outside of themselves. In so doing they find the courage to explore their genuine feelings, needs and vulnerabilities and so grow as real people rather than investing in their image. Instead of promoting themselves they co-operate with, and affirm, others and so create more solid foundations and relationships. In short, they open their hearts and find true value.
