The Direction of Integration for the Five is to Eight so when Fives are secure and relaxed they exhibit some of the behaviours of the healthy Eight. So what does this look like? Fives never feel they know enough. More than that, they feel that until they know enough they cannot act. Lacking therefore the confidence to act they feel separate and helpless, tending to get stuck in observing the world instead of participating in it, living in their heads and abstracting from reality into theory. The move to Eight sees them becoming more confident and trusting in the environment. They realise that they may not know everything but they know enough and, being a Five, what they know is more than most people because they are naturally curious and have invested so much effort in knowing, investigating and understanding things. Whatsmore they understand that they will learn by doing so instead of getting caught up in mental somersaults, they ground their thinking in action. This moves them away from simply collecting information to actually using that information. With action they come out of their shells and start to feel their physical presence in the world. They get their ideas 'out there' and so put themselves on the line. In so doing they get in touch with their own power which in turn makes them more assured and happier.
