The Three: A gift for adaptability

Threes are goal oriented, efficient and seek to develop their talents. They want to succeed, to be the best and their achievements are often admirable. One reason for this is that they are very adaptable. They see what is required and are able to make the necessary adjustments to do what it takes to get where they want to get. One aspect of their adaptability is their ability to be able to turn situations to their advantage.
This is all very impressive and allows Threes to often make progress in their chosen domain quite fast. The problem for them is that their adaptability can also lead them to do things which take them far from their heart's desire and to lose touch with their feelings. This is like someone, for example, who is passionate about reading so wants to set up a bookshop but, on realising that they will not make enough money, or become successful enough, decides to sell beds instead. They may be successful at selling beds but they are not interested in them. If Threes continue to operate in this way, they can lose sight of what is really important to them and, as a result, can find themselves very lost, living a life devoid of any meaning to them or even pleasure. The real difficulty for Threes is that they may not actually realise this because they have become so out of touch with their feelings that they may not know what they feel. At this stage, others can sometimes find Threes a bit 'lightweight' as they can come across as people without any real conviction, who will change their course of action like a candle in the wind without having any real substance or integrity - and sometimes they don't. So Threes need to be aware - as do all of the Types - that in relation to their gift, there is a balance to be had.
