Do countries have a Type?

It is interesting to wonder 'Do individual countries have a Type?' and if so, 'what is it?'

In fact yes, countries can be typed as they all have certain values and attitudes that are dominant and validated in their particular culture. And values are related to, and lead to, an emphasis on certain behaviours. I tend to think that countries embody attitudes and behaviours of perhaps two or three Types rather than just one but often we can see clear dominant characteristics. The United States, for example, is a country where the Three personality has been dominant - where achievement and success, and the image of success, have been highly valued. Switzerland is a country where the One personality type is very much in play with its order, organisation and cleanliness. The UK has a lot of the Six personality Type going on with its structures of class and monarchy and allegiances very much in evidence (whether in football, music etc), France has a lot of the Four going on with its aesthetic sensibility and attraction for deep intellectual, philosophical or cultural discussion. However, in the same way as it can be difficult to see our own personality Type, it can sometimes be difficult for us to see the Type of our own country. Needless to say we do not experience our own country as foreigners do.

Following on from this, it can be interesting to think about the personality types of world leaders and what they may reveal about their ultimate values. In the next post I will take a look at the last three American Presidents: Joe Biden, Donald Trump and Barack Obama. I will look at what Types they are (they are all different), how this may affect how they are viewed and what they each bring to the mix.
