Threes want to to be outstanding and so take the time to develop themselves and their potential. They know how to use their resources and talents to get things done and so are efficient and productive. This, together with their desire to shine, means that they often become role models because they are exemplary at what they do and are good at embodying the values of their particular milieu whatever those values may be - sporting achievement, intellectual prowess, material comfort, attractiveness etc. Their accomplishments make them admirable and inspiring to others which is a wonderful gift to impart. However the challenge for the Three is that this desire to be the best can make them so driven that they become workaholics as they become terrified of being anything less than successful which feels, to a Three, like failure. If they are unable to meet the achievements they set for themselves they can then expend huge energy into the appearance of being successful. The danger with this is that the more they try to portray themselves as successful the.more they get caught up in promoting an image instead of their real self. This inevitably creates enormous pressure as no-one is successful at everything - it is simply not a truth of life. Sometimes we screw up, sometimes (though we may try our best) we fall short. We are simply not good at everything. Ultimately, however, what people really respond to is the truth. Threes can be even more effective - though it goes against the grain - by giving themselves some time off and admitting to their shortcomings. It not only helps to release the pressure but allows other people to relate to them as real individuals. Because ultimately what Threes want - what we all want - is to be seen, acknowledged and loved for who we are, not for the image of who we are.
