A gift and challenge of the One

One of the greatest gifts of the One is their integrity. Even average Ones are principled and conscientious with a strong moral compass which makes it extremely difficult, if not impossible, for them to partake in some of the less edifying behaviour of which most of us are capable of, at least sometimes! It is extremely difficult for them to lie or cheat or to behave in any way that is less than upstanding. This is great - mostly for everyone else who can always count on the One to uphold values and do the right thing. We all benefit from someone else's principles and integrity which help to bring out the best in us and enable us to trust. It is comfortable to be around someone who we have confidence will act well and, if necessary, be discreet. Someone to whom we can go to for objective, principled advice and support. For Ones however, it can also be a challenge as high standards can only be demanded of others if one is prepared to uphold them oneself (part of the integrity of the One way of thinking) so they are very demanding of themselves. Though they are often criticised for being perfectionistic and intolerant of others' mistakes, they are just as hard on themselves. What they feel as a personal need to uphold standards can tip over into feeling more like an obligation if they feel that no-one else is stepping up to the mark to do it. As a result many Ones have a hard time relaxing as they feel under constant pressure to not only set standards but to live up to them too. This is stressful and exhausting. We would feel stressed and exhausted too if we demanded such standards. If we are honest, we sometimes find it easier or more convenient to lie, or at least not be quite truthful, and our motivations for some of our actions may not be so honourable. If we imagine not being able to let ourselves off the hook in that way then we can fully appreciate the gift of the One, which doesn't. We can appreciate what Ones offer the world - which is a purity, quality and dignity. Like a sunrise over snowy mountains.
