A gift and challenge of the Nine

Nines are easygoing and stable with an understated and peaceful presence. They prefer to take life at their own pace, and take events and people as they come, being accepting and not wanting to disturb the peace. As a result they tend to have a healing, soothing, reassuring effect on others as they are easy to be around, being undemanding and accommodating. However, this is also their challenge as this aversion to conflict and the acceptance and accommodation that this engenders means that they tend to go along with others when they really don't want to. It means they don't assert themselves even when they really should. They can find themselves being carried along with others' agendas and so lose themselves as their own projects and plans end up on the back-burner. They can be good at being physically present but emotionally or mentally absent as they retreat into their imaginations and live there instead. The problem is that this disconnects them from reality and though it may be a cosier place and there is nothing wrong with daydreams, there is a problem when daydreams become the consolation for an unlived life. Nines benefit from speaking up and so learning to take up more space in the world and by understanding that asserting oneself is not the same as aggression. That not only do they have the right to their own plans for themselves but that those plans, and they themselves, matter.
