The Direction of Integration for the Nine is to Three so when Nines are feeling secure and relaxed they take on some of the behaviours of healthy Threes. But what does this look like? As we have seen, Nines, in their quest for peace, tend to go along with the wishes of others and also to disengage from what is going on around them. Both these things are forms of disengagement from their own lives. In a sense their modus operandi becomes about working around other people in order to not disturb the status quo or create any friction or bother. In doing this, however, they lose touch with their own vital energies and their own direction or agenda (as it were) in life. Nines see assertion as aggression which means they have difficulty being assertive themselves. The move to Three sees them getting in touch with their own dynamic energies and being able to act on their own behalf to drive things forward. They start to understand that anger does not have to be destructive, that it is part of the life force which provides the energy required to carve out one's own life, not merely to go along with life as it presents itself. Integrating Nines are interested in developing themselves and their own interests and talents as fully as possible and are able to speak up for themselves and express their own needs and wants in life. As they do so, they gain in confidence and become self-assured, energetic and productive. As a result of all this their lives are more satisfying and fulfilled.
