The Direction of Integration for the Eight is to Two. This means that when Eights are relaxed and secure they take on the behaviours of healthy Twos. Eights, being assertive and direct, naturally dominate their environment. They are self-sufficient and resourceful and like to be in control. In order to function like this, however, they have to toughen themselves up and they do this by suppressing the gentler and more vulnerable side of their nature which they see as weakness. The problem with this is that if they are not careful it can go too far and their 'toughness' becomes abrasive and, in the lower levels, bullying and ruthless. The move to Two is about Eights opening their hearts to allow their tender feelings and sensitivity to show. As they do so they become more empathetic and compassionate. Integrating Eights are extremely generous and nurturing and use their power and leadership qualities to work with other people instead of against them. They learn to harness their power in service of others - by championing causes for example - instead of merely for themselves and so use it for the greater good. In doing so they can become truly heroic as they come to understand the power of love instead of simply loving power. In short, by fully accessing and revealing their hearts they come to realise that love is the greatest power of all.
