The Virtue of the Three

As we have seen with the other Types, we have to look at the Passion of the Type in order to understand where the Virtue will lie. The Passion of the Three is Deceit. This isn't just deceit to others but also to themselves. Threes want to be outstanding and successful at what they do and, as a result, they often are as this is an important value for them. However, because they fear being anything less than successful they can start to concentrate on the image of success at the expense of truthfulness. Their modus operandi can become about doing whatever it takes to appear successful, impressive and 'together' expending huge amounts of energy into developing this image of themselves instead of developing their real self. It can become such a preoccupation that they can start to believe their own hype and believe that they really are superior human beings to everyone else whilst at the same time not knowing who they really are or what they really want from life. When Threes become aware of this tendency in themselves, they can start to work with the reality instead of the image and to develop their real self, following their hearts desire rather than something for the sake of appearance. In doing so they become more truthful and authentic and there we have it. The Virtue of the Three is Authenticity. They are able to be honest about who they are and what they really want and to work with that instead of merely cultivating appearance.
