The One with a Nine wing has been called 'The Idealist' by Don Riso and Russ Hudson because both the One and the Nine are idealistic although in different ways. Ones want to improve things, seeing how things should be whilst Nines tend to relate to idealisations of people rather than people themselves. However, the two Types are also a little at odds as Ones want to create change - always for the better as they see it - whilst Nines are naturally resistant to change, not wanting to 'stir things up'. Ones with a Nine wing have a certain detachment, therefore, and a 'cooler', more cerebral quality than the One with a Two wing. They have a more remote, logical orientation with the ability to be objective and dispassionate in their dealings with people. Being a One they strive to embody their ideals but the Nine wing softens their approach. Healthy people of this subtype are very civilised and are loyal and generous friends.
