Starting with Sixes

I thought I would start with a few words about Sixes as it is one of the Types that I think has been undervalued in western capitalist culture - which may be one of the reasons why we're in the mess we're in. Sixes are the most security-oriented of the types and suffer the most from anxiety, so many of us may feel like Sixes right now! In order to gain security they build allegiances and invest in beliefs, systems of thought and structures. As a result they can become involved with organisations which often have an authoritarian element. When Sixes are under stress they become reactive and defiant, suspicious and paranoid. However the gift of the Six is that when they are fully present they know how to move forward with right action, they understand what needs to be done in a given situation and they do it. They can lead but they can also follow. Their egalitarian spirit wants everyone to have a voice and when they act, they act for the good of the whole so there is a courageous unselfishness that works for the common good. In the situation we find ourselves in today as a world, we have to pull together and think of others and do what needs to be done. We can look to the healthy Six - and the Six part of us (because we have all the Types in us) - to show us the way.
