For Twos to watch for

Twos are naturally empathic, generous and compassionate and look to help people whenever they can. As a result they often put themselves in the role of the rescuer. Although this can be well-meaning it may also be used as a means to manipulate the 'rescuee' into needing the Two and can be a form of giving in order to receive. Not only does the rescuing take the Two out of an equal relationship into one in which the Two, as the rescuer, is putting themselves in a superior position, but the rescuing can end up being more about the Two fulfilling their own idea of themselves as a good, selfless person than it is to do with actually understanding what the other person really wants or needs. In such cases the person who is being 'rescued' can feel that the help, or a certain sort of help, is being imposed upon them which they may not want or feel ready to accept - especially if they feel that it is more about the Two fulfilling his or her own needs than it is to do with them. In this case the well-meaning intentions of the Two can be felt as intrusive and also as a pressure. This has the effect of driving away the person the Two is trying to help - which is actually the opposite of what the Two wants.
