The primary fear of the Three is of having no value. Self-worth, then, is of great importance to them and they gain it by seeking out whatever is of value in their particular family, culture or society and becoming an outstanding example of it. So Threes seek accomplishment and achievement and when they are healthy they are extremely admirable. When they are less healthy and less present to themselves however, they have to work increasingly hard to convince themselves and others that they really are the accomplished, superior people they claim to be. They become arrogant and expedient - using people for their own ends and being dismissive of anyone who is not useful to them. They may attach themselves to status symbols, fake their achievements or claim credit for things which are not their due. At this stage their sense of self-worth is dependant on putting other people down. In doing so they treat others as though they are worthless.
