When the Nine goes to Six

The Direction of Disintegration for the Nine is to Six so when the Nine is under pressure and stressed they take on some of the behaviours of average to unhealthy Sixes. Nines, being peace-loving, work hard to avoid any conflict in their lives. They do this in two principal ways - by going along with others (saying 'yes' when they mean 'no') and by switching off and disengaging from what is going on around them. Both behaviours, if compulsive, can end up causing conflicts for the Nine (the one thing they are trying so hard to avoid) and so increase their stress and anxiety which is then displayed in unpredictable and unbalanced ways. As they start to feel overwhelmed by reality they become negative and helpless and may look to authority or protective figures to 'fix' their problems and sort everything out. They start using passive-aggressive tactics to get their needs met and become reactive and defensive - complaining, resisting and evading to get others to stop bothering them. When this doesn't work a siege-like mentality takes over as they are forced to deal with their problems. At this stage their fearfulness and repressed anger explode into irrational rants or outbursts of rage or aggression which can be surprising, even shocking, both to others (who are used to the placid easy-going nature of the Nine) and to Nines themselves who are unused to dealing with anger - theirs or anyone else's.
