The Virtue of the One

Being as the Virtue of a Type is linked to its Passion, let's look first at the Passion of the One which is Resentment. Ones are self-controlled, keeping a tight rein on their emotions. They strive to do things correctly and to be beyond reproach, and feel that anger, as a result, must be controlled because it is not correct or is somehow 'bad'. However, repressed anger builds up and creates resentment, which, if unacknowledged, can lead to feelings that absolutely nothing is right, nothing is as it should be. Resentment can explode inappropriately and often with negative consequences.
When Ones become aware of how their Passion is expressed, however, they can start to work with their feelings of anger and transform them. They learn to express their angry feelings more readily and become less judgemental and demanding and so more serene. And so the Virtue of the One is Serenity. Serenity is really about accepting things as they are rather than resisting reality, trying to force it to measure up to certain standards or insisting on changing things into how we think they should be. Serenity is also about accepting ourselves as we are and being open and receptive to what comes to us. There is a calmness and more of a 'live and let live' attitude rather than always trying to be in control - with all the stresses that come along with that.
