The Enneagram types which adopt a positive outlook in the face of disappointment are the Two, Seven and Nine. All three of these Types, left to their own devices, tend not to want to dwell on the negative feelings that disappointment generates so they compensate by reframing disappointment in a way that makes it more palatable to them. By focussing on a positive aspect in any disappointing situation it allows them to feel better and more optimistic about the situation. This can seem, to the other Types, as though they are avoiding the issue, have not fully taken onboard the repercussions of what the disappointment means or simply do not understand the gravity of it. Sometimes, however, it can be helpful to have someone who can bring positivity to disappointment. It can help to prevent an overwhelming pessimism and provide energy to surmount the problem. As we all tend to provide what we need, the positive outlook Types, therefore, need a dose of positivity in the face of not getting what they want. The Two, Seven and Nine all need to be buoyed up, to be inspired, in the face of difficulties.
