The passion of the Six is Fear, or perhaps more accurately, anxiety or 'angst' which is essentially a fear of things that haven't happened. As part of the thinking Triad, the Six is looking ahead but in contrast to the Five who is interested in knowledge more for knowledge's sake, the Six is more concerned with using that knowledge to guide them as to what needs to be done next. Sixes are responsible and will do the right thing, are able to put the bigger picture before their own self-interest, are able to follow others but at the same time are also capable of taking the lead if necessary. Because of their anxiety they are the most security-oriented of all the Types and, as such, are looking for assurances and insurances, structures, guidance, permissions and allegiances - in short, anything that will help to build it up. The downside to this heightened level of awareness is that they are also alert to whatever may threaten their security which only increases their anxiety. They become hyper vigilant to everything that could go wrong, monitoring their anxiety levels and feeling the need to constantly cover all bases for any potential problems that may arise. It has been said that Sixes suffer from 'Pre Traumatic Stress Disorder' such is their general anxiety which causes high levels of stress. This stress can cause the Six to either overreact and impulsively confront their fears or to run away from them - sometimes both, alternating wildly in the same person. This reactivity can be extremely damaging as they become more and more volatile, lashing out even in anticipation of something. In so doing they can end up undermining the security they crave by upsetting or alienating the very people, organisations or structures they have relied on for it. Sixes, like all the other Types, learn that giving in to their passion does not bring them what they desire, it only takes them further from it.
