I thought it might be interesting to look at the personality of Queen Elizabeth II in terms of the Enneagram.

The Queen has been typed by the Enneagram Institute as a Nine with a One wing. So let's have a look at why that might be and what Nines with a One wing look like.

Nines do not like conflict and so work hard for peace, to unify and bring together, often making good mediators or counsellors. They are stable, serene and reassuring and when they are healthy they operate from a deep inner knowing (as do all the instinctive Types). They are unpretentious and unselfconscious, are able to see different points of view and often love nature and animals. They have a healing influence on those around them as they are accepting and hold space for others to be themselves. Ones are principled people who are able to delay their own gratification or make personal sacrifices for the greater good. They are self-controlled, objective and conscientious.

Healthy Nines with a One wing therefore have integrity and are good at synthesising different schools of thought. They are imaginative and creative with a distinct sense of purpose, especially regarding their ideals. They are able to balance nonjudgemental listening with a desire to be of help to others. Looking at the overall picture then, we can see someone who was in many ways suited to a life of service, even more so as a Head of State. Someone for whom duty, constancy and being a unifying influence came quite naturally - hence, I would suggest, her success as monarch.

Next week I will look at King Charles III in terms of the Enneagram and what his personality brings to the role.
