Nobody Special

The social role of the Nine is that of 'Nobody Special'. In the average levels down, the easygoing Nine minimises their importance, accommodating themselves to others and, minimising their own needs and desires, can become so undemanding that they blend in to the point of not being seen. Their attitude is that of 'don't mind me' because they hate inconveniencing anyone. Whilst their humility and self-effacing attitude has a certain appeal and can be nice to be around, it has a downside - especially for the Nine. Others can tend to take their cue from the Nine and take advantage of their easygoing nature by not making much of an effort around them, passing them over and generally not taking them very seriously, thus minimising the Nine's importance too. As Nines can find out, putting themselves last in line has a cost which can lead them to become lethargic and depressed. Nines have to learn that their presence matters and that they are worth investing in, that it is important and necessary to assert their needs and desires in order to develop themselves and their talents and, whatsmore, that others actually appreciate them more when they are fully present, active and engaged.
