A Few Words about Fives

Experts have gone out of fashion in recent times. Reality TV and programmes such as X Factor have cultivated the idea that we don't need to really know about anything. It is enough to pitch up and be 'discovered'. Even politicians have been dismissive of experts, preferring instead to listen to public opinion. But now, with the coronavirus upon us, who are we seeking out? The experts. We thought we could manage without them but it turns out we can't. Fives are thirsty for knowledge and question everything because they seek safety in their knowledge and understanding of things. As a result they are perceptive, curious and innovative. This call to understand the 'why?' of things can lead them, when they are less healthy, to becoming eccentric, reclusive, provocative and nihilistic. But at their best their focus and clarity of thought can come up with astonishing new discoveries or ways of thinking. They can find the answers because they are so searching with their questions. Right now, in the quest for a vaccine for the Covid19 virus, it is precisely the investigative ability of the Five that is needed - the ability to pay attention, analyse the facts and process the information in order to understand its particular nature, that will, at the end of the day, be responsible for finding one. And we all need to look to the Five part in us to help us to understand this brave new world we find ourselves in as a result of this virus as we will need some radical new thinking to successfully adapt to it.
